Microsoft give aways Cloud computing servies estimated worth $3 million to Australian researchers for free.

In the name of "Sharing Information", Microsoft had announced that they will provide four million hours worth of free access to Microsoft's cloud computing platform Azure over the next three years.

Many of the Australian universities are going to be benefited by this microsoft generous gesture.

CSIRO will use Cloud computing platform 'Azure' for projects related to transport and logistics and a number of other projects underway at the CSIRO.

The Australian National University and National Computational Infrastructure will be using Azure for computational chemistry packages.

Researchers at the University of Melbourne and Monash University will work on e-science applications. Researchers at the University of Adelaide will be using Azure for a magnetotellurics platform, which provides electromagnetic imaging of the Earth's subsurface.
